Yeovil Crime Reduction Team
Welcome to Yeovil Crime Reduction Team.
Yeovil Crime Reduction Team (YCRT) works across Yeovil and surrounding areas of Somerset and Dorset to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour, and harm in our town centres and communities.
We bring together retailers, licensed premises, local authorities, police, support services, and community partners to share information, prevent crime, and respond quickly and effectively when issues arise. By working together, we help create safer, more welcoming places for people to live, work, shop, and socialise.
YCRT operates accredited Shopwatch and Pubwatch schemes and uses the DISC information-sharing system to help identify repeat offenders, protect businesses and staff, and reduce risk. Our work is recognised by Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (PCPI), and YCRT holds Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) accreditation, demonstrating best practice in crime prevention and partnership working.
Our success relies on the commitment of our members and partners. From shop staff and venue managers to outreach workers and local services, everyone plays a role in raising concerns early, sharing information responsibly, and supporting positive outcomes.
YCRT recognises that crime and anti-social behaviour are often linked to wider challenges such as mental health needs, substance misuse, homelessness, domestic abuse, or barriers to support. Alongside prevention and enforcement, we work with partner agencies to address these underlying issues wherever possible, aiming to break cycles of repeat offending and reduce social exclusion.
By combining prevention, partnership, and support, YCRT helps build safer communities and stronger town centres for everyone.
